New Sensations

BBC News has posted a slide show of some of the 20 works shortlisted for the New Sensations Prize, launched in 2007 by the Saatchi Gallery and Channel 4 TV. The prize aims to find the most imaginative and talented recent graduates from art schools in the UK. The 20 shortlisted graduates are invited to exhibit their work; then judges select four finalists to be given a bursary to create a new artwork. The winner will be announced in May 2012. True to form, the BBC doesn't name any of the graduates whose work it shows (title link) and Saatchi Online hasn't been updated (CLICK). Above is my favourite, a professional-looking portrait photo with competent lighting; but imaginative? 'Fraid not.
