Stephen Lawrence Prize

Here are two London news stories that nobody else has put together. Police have launched an inquiry after smashed glass was noticed on a plaque honouring Stephen Lawrence, who was murdered in 1993. Only a few days ago RIBA awarded the Stephen Lawrence Prize 2011 to St Patrick's School Library and Music Room by Coffey Architects. The clever design incorporates a library on the ground floor and a storage display of musical instruments above. The £5,000 Stephen Lawrence Prize, funded by the Marco Goldschmied Foundation, rewards the best architectural project that costs less than £1m. The prize was presented by Stephen's mother Doreen Lawrence OBE (title link).
