Weiwei Taxes

Always one for self-publicity, Ai Weiwei has announced that Chinese authorities have given him 15 days to pay his tax bill of 15m yuan (£1.4m, $2.3m). This has gone up since he promised to pay a bill of more than 12m yuan (£1.2m, $1.9m) in unpaid taxes and fines last June (CLICK). More fines for non-payment? And he has rejected the notice and still isn't sure whether he will pay it or not (title link). So he tacitly admits he is rich enough to pay this massive bill! I suppose he's hoping for more widespread protests to support him. Why anyone should support an inartistic fat cat who has allegedly dodged his taxes is beyond me.
