Superman Smashes $2m

A copy of Action Comics No. 1 (1938) which featured Superman for the very first time has smashed the $2m barrier to become the world's most expensive comic. In an online auction run by Comic Connect, it fetched $2.16m (£1.4m). Last year I reported that a copy had broken the $1m barrier (CLICK). Both the new buyer and seller remain anonymous, but comics nerds guess the recently sold copy belonged to US actor Nicolas Cage, who named his son Kal-El (Superman's birth name). Cage bought his copy in 1997 for $150,000 (title link). Not a bad little investment.
