Science Art

Oo-er. What is it? Answer: Tumor Death-Cell Receptors on a Breast Cancer Cell. It was created by Emiko Paul and Quade Paul, Echo Medical Media, and Ron Gamble, UAB Insight, using 3D software and Adobe Photoshop to illustrate microscopic images of breast cancer cells. It gained an Honorable Mention in the Illustration category of the 2011 International Science and Engineering Visualisation Challenge sponsored by Science magazine and the National Science Foundation. 200 entries were evaluated on visual impact, effective communication of a scientific idea and overall originality.
