Craigie Slasher

I can't believe that the National Portrait Gallery in London actually bought this pathetic and damaged Self-portrait by the late Craigie Aitchison, who threw a wobbler when a viewer called it "flattering" and slashed his own work. It remained in his possession until his death in 2009. He had insisted it could only be restored if the cuts remained visible. What an ego!
