Swiss Curb Immigrants
From 1 June the Swiss government is limiting the number of EU citizens allowed to work in Switzerland. It claims foreigners now make up a quarter of its population with 80,000 arriving every year. It has capped long-term residence permits at 2,180 for immigrants from poorer countries: Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and the Czech Republic. Swiss employers are miffed, because they want cheap labour. The EU is even more miffed, because it wants to create a United States of Europe to compete with the USA and has granted Switzerland certain perks despite its not being in the EU (CLICK). With apologies to Julie Andrews and The Sound of Music (1965) I've created this little graphic to mark the occasion. London is in the EU: 50% of those living here are immigrants.

Maybe we should do the same. The influx from Eastern Europe a few years ago was ridiculous. They still haven't got an idea just how many people were here and how many people are still here.
And how many were criminals doing a runner from their own countries. Our border controls are a joke.
