Lucian-Freud's Degas
The Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool is chuffed to acquire Edgar Degas's La Masseuse, one of three Degas sculptures left to the Nation by the late Lucian Freud and the only two-figure sculpture Degas made. It depicts the reality of ballet dancers' lives. It was accepted under the government’s Acceptance In Lieu (AIL) scheme. After a competitive process, Arts Council England awarded it to the Walker Art Gallery, which already owns a collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works (CLICK).
