The Paradise Plus

I hate to admit it, but I'm hooked on BBC One's awful adaptation of Émile Zola's Au Bonheur des Dames (1883) which the BBC has turned into cosy family fare The Paradise (CLICK). Joanna Vanderham as Denise steals the show. She's one of those subtle actresses whose face you watch to try to determine what she's thinking. She's also very easy on the eye. Then it's off to Downton Abbey, Julian Fellowes' far superior show on ITV at 9pm tonight (CLICK). Two hours of TV drama worth viewing. It's a miracle!
