Musketeers!
For those of you already suffering from withdrawal symptoms from BBC One's swashbuckling hokum The Musketeers, which concluded last week, there is a quick fix, although it involves a trip to Paris. Two days ago the Musée de l’Armée opened Mousquetaires! (Musketeers!), an exhibition which explores the myth and reality of this elite army force created in 1622 under Louis XIII and made famous by Alexandre Dumas' exciting novel Les Trois Mousquetaires (The Three Musketeers). Shown is Gustave Dore's Model for a sculpture of D'Artagnan, who apparently died in the siege of Maastricht in 1673 (CLICK). For further details CLICK.
