Rembrandt Late Works

The National Gallery in London and the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, have co-curated Rembrandt: The Late Works, which opens in the Sainsbury Wing on 15 October (CLICK). "Through famous masterpieces and rare drawings and prints ... [the exhibition] ... examines the themes that preoccupied Rembrandt as he grew older: self-scrutiny, experimentation, light, observation of everyday life and even other artists’ works; as well as expressions of intimacy, contemplation, conflict and reconciliation." Shown is Rembrandt's The Conspiracy of the Batavians under Claudius Civilis (c. 1661-2) which has travelled outside Sweden only twice before (CLICK). Timed-ticket entry costs £18.00 for adults, £16.00 for silver surfers!
