Wedgwood Saved
The Wedgwood Collection of 80,000 works of art, ceramics, manuscripts, letters and photographs has been saved for the nation. A public appeal raised the outstanding £2.74m needed to meet the total purchase price of £15.75m. It took a little over one month to raise the readies. Stephen Deuchar, director of the Art Fund, said the Save Wedgwood appeal had been the fastest fundraising campaign in the charity's 111-year history. The V&A Museum will care for the collection (CLICK), Shown is a detail from one of Wedgwood's The First Day's Vases (1769).
