Sand Sculpture Festival

A statue from 2005 (theme Egypt)
From ice to sand. Coxsoft Art covers it all without fear or favour. Today sees the opening of the 2nd Brighton Sand Sculpture Festival at Brighton Marina, UK, which continues until 10 September 2006. This year the theme is Imperial Rome. Blame the savage pricing - adults £6, family ticket £21 - on importing tons of foreign sand for the exhibits. If jumbo Roman sand castles don't appeal, there's always Brighton Pavilion, a nudist beach and the gay nightlife. Come to think of it, the only rational reason for visiting this area is to view stained-glass windows by Edward Burne-Jones in the Parish Church of St Margaret, Rottingdean.
