Child Labour
On the subjects of both child labour and Russian art, I thought you might like to see Vasily Perov's realistic and unsentimental masterpiece: Troika, Apprentice Workmen Carrying Water (1866). There is a man in the background heaving to get that heavy load uphill and also to stop it sliding downhill if the children can't cope. The dog seems to be enjoying itself. This picture was painted only 140 years ago. Looks like the Middle Ages, doesn't it?
