Artwork Cruel to Animals

Huang Yong Ping - The Nightmare of George V (2002)I found this item in Art News Blog, but the original source is ArtInfo (title link). The alleged artist Huang Yong Ping is miffed that his cruel display of live exotic animals, kept without water in an unheated turtle-shaped cage in the Vancouver Art Gallery, has been closed by the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). Censorship against art, wails the twerp, while Gallery pseuds sink to new lows in justifying any tripe as art. Next we'll have them displaying pit bull terriers tearing each other to pieces and claiming it's "art". House of Oracles: A Huang Yong Ping Retrospective continues at Vancouver Art Gallery until 16 September 2007 without its tortured creatures, but note that the exhibit I've shown uses real animal skins. Shame on you, you pathetic Ping! And shame on any gallery that displays your rubbish. (CLICK)
