Loch Ness Discovery!

Deep Toad, Bufo bufo, at 324.9 feet; photo Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2007)No, it's not the mythical Loch Ness monster, which is almost certainly a family of otters playing follow-my-leader near the surface, but a common Brit. toad, Bufo bufo. What's so remarkable about it? Look at the depth reading. It's walking along the bottom of Loch Ness at 324.9 feet! Nobody had any idea that this perky amphibian could plumb such depths, until the Massachusetts Institute of Technology took this photo. Okay, it's hardly The Toad From 20,000 Fathoms, but it's a lot more exciting than a non-existent Nessie, and for Bufo bufo fans it's a knockout.
