The Viaduct Stolen
On Thursday morning, five artworks by L.S. Lowry were stolen at knifepoint from a private collector in Cheadle Hulme, Greater Manchester. The Viaduct (shown) is estimated to be worth £700,000. Lowry's palette and brushes were also taken. It looks as though these items were stolen to order, presumably on behalf of one of our fatcat "betters" who gets what he wants by hook or by crook. So they will probably grace a private collection, rather than being put up for auction on eBay.
