Halifax Phish

Halifax LogoHere's the latest phishing scam to hit my inbox, allegedly from Peter Jackson, Head of Security and Online Banking for Halifax. It looks convincing, but the website address it suckers you into is "http://0x3d5a9cd4/.../" plus some Halifax bits as a smokescreen. I like the irony!

What is it about the Halifax? They do seem to be a particularly popular bank for targeting by phishers. I've just posted on my own blog about this.

Hi, Stephen
Yup. I had an even better Halifax phish with a slightly different logo within a few days of posting this one. It could be the TV advertising they do attracts phishers. Or it could be Halifax is so clueless it doen't have a send-us-your-scams link on its website. (I tried finding one and couldn't.)
What this country needs is a Government funded Send-Us-Your-Scams website, well publicized on TV, so we all no where to send these scams we receive.
It used to be the Russians, Nigerian Mafia and Spanish Lottery that sent out these phishing scams, but I've noticed recently that French and Italian criminals are getting in on the act. We're such mugs in this country, and it's costing the UK economy billions of pounds. That's why we need a Scams.gov.uk website so desperately.
