Infrared Reflectogram

Leonardo da Vinci - The Virgin (or Madonna) of the Rocks (1506)The National Gallery, London, has posted an infrared reflectogram of Leonardo da Vinci's beautiful The Virgin of the Rocks on its website. This technical do-dad allows a sort of X-ray of what lies under the visible painting. The Gallery claims to have discovered all sorts of goodies, but they're not obvious to me. All I saw was a poor quality, fuzzy, black and white photo. Click the title link to have a look. Maybe your monitor is bigger and better than mine. To see a larger graphic of this painting, CLICK.
