Artemisia

I discovered today that the French made a movie about the female artist Artemisia Gentileschi, starring Valentina Cervi in the title role. Artemisia received its North American premiere in Canada at the 1997 Toronto Film Festival. It sounds more like an erotic period romp than an art movie, with "dazzling" 23-year-old-Valentina getting her kit off for the part. Must be worth a look, if you can find a DVD. I can't think of another female artist portrayed in film other than Beatrice Potter.
