Why Train Scammers?

Nigerian Schoolchildren using Xo Laptop (2007)Why are Microsoft, Intel and the One Laptop per Child group so keen to supply Nigeria's 30 million schoolchildren with cheap computers? Are they worried that the Yambo Financials Spam Gang will die out? Do they want to insure that the next generation improves on those 419 scams which gull naive westerners into helping Mrs Knobkerrie get her dead husband's loot out of Africa? (And "God bless you", dear mug.) If you do a Google search for Central Bank Nigeria and Ecobank (also in Nigeria), you'll find a long list of phishing scams which mention their names. Both banks are legitimate, but using their names is popular among Nigerian criminals. (Tip: make a message rule to block any email which names these banks in its text.) So why are Microsoft and Intel involved in Nigeria? Corporate greed, at a guess. The One-Laptop mob? Naive do-gooding. Prepare yourself for the next wave of Nigerian scams!
