Bad News For Buglife
In November 2006 I reported on Buglife's campaign to protect part of Thurrock Marshes from a massive and unwelcome development by Royal Mail (CLICK). Yesterday Buglife lost its case in the High Court. Mr Justice Mitting dismissed Buglife's application to quash planning permission granted by Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation. This judgement undermines the Biodiversity Duty (2006) that is supposed to apply to all public bodies. So it is very bad news for conservation generally. Buglife was refused permission to appeal, but its lawyers may seek permission from the Court of Appeal. CLICK for Buglife.
