Monet's Steam Train

On the subject of Impressionism, here's one of the "greatest" examples of the genre still in private hands: Claude Monet's Le Pont du chemin de fer à Argenteuil (1873). It's coming up for grabs at Christie's New York auction on 6 May and they're hoping for a new world record. At a time of recession? Probably. I doubt the top end of the art market will feel the pinch - but at least one art show in the USA has already been cancelled due to the economic climate: ArtDC in Washington (CLICK).
