Beryl Cook R.I.P.
Sad news: BBC 1 o'clock News just announced the death of one of the UK's most popular artists Beryl Cook, famous for her cheeky chubby ladies. This self-portrait, The Artist At Work, is typical of her gentle humour: beer and cigarette in hand, wearing an arty beret. How to prick the pretensions of the art world and raise a smile at the same time. A fine artist with her own unique vision, she will be sorely missed.
