Sainsbury Bequest Show
Last October I covered Simon Sainsbury's bequest to the National Gallery and Tate Britain (CLICK). Tomorrow all 18 paintings go on show at Tate Britain. Henri Rousseau's Portrait of Joseph Brummer (1909) is one of the non-Brit. exhibits destined for the National Gallery. The best of the Brit. stuff is a Gainsborough. I'm afraid most of the exhibition suggests Simon Sainsbury had more money than artistic taste, although the Brit. Anti-art Establishment won't admit this. At the time of writing, the Tate hadn't updated it's website. So admission fees are unknown. Personally I wouldn't bother unless it's free. Watch out for runners belting through the gallery (CLICK). What a farce!
