Lost Metropolis Found

Metropolis Poster (1927)An original cut of Fritz Lang's silent sci-fi classic Metropolis (1927) has been found in the Pablo Ducrós Hicken Film Museum in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and has recently been shown to journalists for the first time. Movie distributors regarded the masterpiece as too long, so it was butchered to reduce it to a standard feature-length one and a half hours. The restored version of 2001 (German) is 147 minutes, the Murnau Foundation version (USA 2002) is 123 minutes. The newly discovered version includes 25 minutes of footage unseen since 1928.
