Export Ban on Turner

Culture minister Barbara Follett has placed a temporary export ban on JMW Turner's Pope's Villa At Twickenham (1808), which sold for £5.4m at Sotheby's in London last July. The ban - to be reviewed in February - allows time to see if funds can be raised to buy it for the nation. It isn't one of his best, but it is historically important.
