Robert Mulligan RIP
It's sad to note the death of Oscar-nominated film director Robert Mulligan, who made one of the greatest movies of all time: To Kill A Mockingbird (1962) based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Harper Lee. Gregory Peck won an Oscar for his masterly portrayal of Atticus Finch. Here's a still showing him with Mary Badham, who played Atticus's delightfully tomboy daughter Scout. I dare say this influential movie did more for the American Civil Rights Movement than all the speeches by Dr King, and it did it without preaching. Unmissable cinema. Brilliant.
