Constable's Parents
These two portraits by John Constable are now believed to be a matching pair, showing his parents: Golding and Ann Constable. Curators identified them while preparing for the latest exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery: Constable Portraits: The Painter and His Circle, which opens tomorrow and continues until 14 June (title link).
