Modern British Sculpture

On the 22 January the Royal Academy of Arts opens what promises to be an embarrassingly awful exhibition of Modern British Sculpture, which features all the usual suspects: Moore, Hepworth, Epstein, Hirst, King, Caro and so on and so forth. The only sculptor worthy of the name in this catalogue of British 20th Century sculpting disasters is Sir Alfred Gilbert, who was the avant-garde artist of his day. What adds insult to injury is that the RA expects adults to pay £12 to view this tosh, silver surfers £10. Let's hope somebody gives Dame Barbara Hepworth's Single Form (Memorial) a polish before the show opens. Click the title link for an impercipient blurb and further details.
