Iran Olympics Boycott
The badly designed London Olympics 2012 Logo is in trouble again. (If you suffer from epilepsy, don't CLICK.) Iran's National Olympic Committee has complained to the IOC that the logo is racist, because the 2012 in jagged numerals can be misread as ZION, a biblical term for Jerusalem. Iran is threatening to boycott the London Olympics and is urging other Muslim states to protest against the "racist logo". The IOC has given Iran's bigoted nonsense the raspberry. Great colours but the poster is pants. Why can't a country that has had Constable, Gainsborough (and I am sorry for probably misspelling his name) and Turner got a load of junk for a poster. It isn't a patch on the ones that you, Coxsoft, have mentioned and it has no real artistic majesty.
It's a logo, not a poster. It offended just about everyone. It is universally considered rubbish. So good point. I guess the Brit. Anti-art Establishment was in charge. It knows nothing about art and doesn't want to. It sees itself as being above popular taste.
