War Artist Sale

Here's a painting which is far more exciting than anything in the Turner Prize shortlist. It's by Jules George and shows British troops waiting to board a helicopter coming in to land. Last year Jules was sponsored by MoD to visit Afghanistan as an official war artist, billeted with 2 Yorks (Green Howards) of the 11th Light Brigade. An exhibition of his paintings and sketches will run at Bonhams in New Bond Street, London, from 22 July to 5 August, weekdays only (title link). Prices range from £180 to several thousand. Both the artist and Bonhams have pledged to donate a percentage of sales to Combat Stress, a charity that helps ex-service men and women.
