London Riots

Violence, arson and looting spread across London last night in the wake of the Tottenham riots. Enfield, Ponders End, Wood Green, Waltham Forest, Walthamstow, Wood Green, Islington, Brixton and Oxford Circus were all attacked (title link). The pundits are already coming up with daft ideas to explain the problem. "A cry for justice from the black community" is one favourite. This doesn't explain why black people should assume that the police shot an innocent man on Thursday. That is tribal paranoia. I'm afraid humans are tribal. Football matches are popular tribal events, wars less so. White politicians' approval of police tactics during the Tottenham riots is also tribal. I want to know why the twerp in charge of police in Tottenham didn't use water canon. That would have helped to disperse rioters, to protect police and to put out the fires. Anyway, here is my facetious explanation for the riots, showing a beautiful black model in Africa Fashion Week London 2011, 5 and 6 August (CLICK); no thug from the ghettos was invited. Aw! How unfair!

These riots are disgusting, are they just going to stand back and allow this to happen? Why do we have an army, and why don't they sort it out?

Hi

The police received such heavy criticism for the way they handled the student demos that I guess they're frightened to start cracking skulls, which is what's needed. See my latest post today. It's getting worse.

Hi, Udaiyan

"Rightwing clampdown"? Do you mean the eviction of tenants involved in the riots? They deserve it; they're in breach of contract. Better the money should go to the real victims of the riots: people who were burned out of their houses, flats and shops.
