Garlands for Glory

Here's something a lot more interesting and useful than those daft "art" projects for the 2012 Cultural Olympiad. Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) is looking for "Plant Champions" aged from 11 to 19 to create Garlands for Glory. The Fairchild Challenge / BGCI Global Competition 2011/12 aims to engage thousands of children worldwide in designing a wreath fit for an athlete, using only native species from their own countries. The purpose is to raise youngsters' awareness of the threats to biodiversity (title link). Winning entries will be displayed in London next year.
