Wellcome Collection

Tomorrow the Wellcome Collection at 183 Euston Road, London, opens two free exhibitions, both of which continue until 26 February 2012. The miracles aspect is entitled Infinitas Gracias. This is in the Votives Gallery and displays over 100 Mexican miracle paintings. Do a deal with a saint and have a local artist paint you a thank you. Primitive, but interesting. The charms aspect is in the Amulets Gallery: Charmed Life: The solace of objects. This is the result of artist Felicity Powell’s engagement with a collection of 1400 amulets assembled by the Edwardian amateur folklorist Edward Lovett.
