John Moores Prize

The John Moores Painting Prize 2012 has issued a call for entries (title link). The top prize is £25,000 with four runners-up awards of £2,500. Only rubbish painters based in the UK need apply. Think I'm kidding? Read the list of anti-art trendies who will judge the competition and take a closer look at last year's winner: Spectrum Jesus (2009) by Keith Coventry. He looks like Geronimo after a night on the booze and a nasty punch-up. Yes, folks, this is the Walker Art Gallery's answer to the Turner Prize. What a waste of money! Fancy your chances? The deadline is 20 January 2012.
