ASA Bans Dakota Ad

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned a Marc Jacobs' Oh Lola! perfume advert featuring this photo of 17-year-old Twilight actress Dakota Fanning. She may have a beautiful face, but she is skinny with a small bust and ASA reckons she looks more like a 13-year-old than a 17-year-old. The fact that she has a giant bottle of perfume sprouting from between her thighs like a jaunty phallus could be seen to sexualise a child and was likely to cause serious offence, according to ASA (title link). What strikes me as wrong-headed about the ad is that only cheap muck would be sold in a bottle as large as this! Poor photo too. Try a better advertising agency, Marc.
