Cavy Photo Winner

Yesterday the National Portrait Gallery in London announced the winner of this year's Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize: Jooney Woodward for her photo of 13-year-old Harriet Power holding her cavy Gentleman Jack in the guinea pig judging area at the Royal Welsh Show. This was my favourite, although I thought Jasper Clark's portrait of artist Wen conveyed more about his subject (CLICK). Pretty girl, handsome cavy, both with the same hair/fur colour; brilliant. The exhibition opens tomorrow. Some of the 60 photos on display are better than the other 3 shortlisted entries. If there were a comedy portrait award, it would have gone to Yann Gross's photo of Tatiana and Belene. Watch out for that one. The show opens tomorrow. This year there is an admission charge, but it's only £2.
