Satyr and Nymph

This exquisite terracotta sculpture Satyr and Nymph (1780s) by French artist Claude Michel, known as Clodion, has recently been bought by Sweden's Nationalmuseum (title link). Due to its sensuality, the sculpture ended up in a private Swedish erotica collection in 1990. Now rescued from such ignominy, it stands as one of the finest examples of Clodion's art. If only Britain's current crop of inartistic Royal Academicians and other Big Name non-artists could produce anything remotely of this quality.
