Out of Body

I am constantly amazed by the weird things that are hailed as "art". Take this stainless steel fold-up screen Slip (2011) by Alice Channer. She claims it's a "figurative" installation thingy, one of a number created for her show at South London Gallery (SLG) Alice Channer: Out of Body. I'll spare you the nonsensical blurb. Alice graduated from Goldsmiths College in 2006 and the Royal College of Art in 2008. It seems they taught her what they usually teach their students: how to bullshit the punters. But SLG is still worth a visit. It has the most user-friendly website I've come across in a while (title link). Its three-year education project Making Play won the inaugural £10,000 Clore Award for Museum Learning, and it won a New London Architecture Award for its extension by 6a architects. Every Sunday, between 2pm and 4pm, it runs The Sunday Spot, a free drop-in artist-led family workshop for kids aged 3–12.
