British Wildlife 2012

The winners of the British Wildlife Photography Awards 2012 have been announced. The overall winner is Dr Matt Doggett with his underwater photo Gannet Jacuzzi, taken in Scotland at some risk to himself I imagine. The Telegraph has posted a slide show of the top 30 photos (CLICK) all of which have also been published today in a coffee table book British Wildlife Photography Awards: Collection 3, price £25. I'm a sucker for atmospheric lighting effects, natural or artificial. So my favourite is Alex Saberi's Fairytale 1, Red Deer, Richmond Park National Nature Reserve, Surrey, England (2012). The free exhibition opens at the Mall Galleries in London on 17 September (CLICK).
