Ravi Shankar RIP

Ravi Shankar, master of the Indian sitar, has died in the Scripps Memorial Hospital in San Diego following surgery last week, aged 92 (CLICK). His magical music for Satyajit Ray's multiple award-winning masterpiece Pather Panchali (1955) brought him to international attention. He created the music for Satyajit Ray's complete Apu trilogy. Later The Beatles helped him to achieve world fame. Indian PM Manmohan Singh described him as a "national treasure".
