Fireworks And Ice

Fireworks lit up the opening of the 29th Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival yesterday. More than 13 million people are expected to visit this ice extravaganza in the capital city of northeast China's Heilongjiang province, despite temperatures of -26 degrees. The Crystal Castle towers over the winter theme park at a height of 160 feet (48 euro metre thingies). LEDs illuminate the ice sculptures. BBC News has posted a video of the opening: CLICK. The Mail Online has posted a collection of photos: CLICK.

The London Ice Sculpting Festival is at Canary Wharf from 11-13 January 2012. FREE!

My sculpture partner has tempted me to a day out to see it.
