BAA Awards

Of all the award ceremonies that splash across the media at this time of year, the only one with a sense of humour is the British Animation Awards, known as BAA, which is the sound a sheep makes. The BAA Awards 2014 took place at the BFI, Southbank, London, yesterday. Winners received an artwork featuring a sheep. This is a biennial event, so some of the entries have been hanging around for up to two years. Magic Light Pictures' Room on the Broom - based on the Julia Donaldson story illustrated by Axel Scheffler - was awarded the best long-form prize, beating Aardman Animations' Pirates! On an Adventure with Scientists and The Snowman and the Snowdog. Other winners included Peppa Pig, Baby Jake and Cartoon Network series The Amazing World of Gumball (CLICK).
