La Grande Guerre

As part of the First World War Centenary Partnership Programme, The FitzWilliam Museum in Cambridge will open La Grande Guerre: French prints of the First World War on 20 May in the Shiba Gallery. This is a free exhibition of prints of colour lithographs and woodcuts depicting the first seven months of World War I. Shown is a detail from Pendant la bataille de l'Aisne (1914) by an unknown artist. Although the illustrations are from a French perspective, British tommies drinking tea and Indian soldiers at prayer make an appearance (CLICK).
