DIE at Gherkin

Only two days ago I was bemoaning the controversy and sensationalism which editors demand of contemporary art to make it seem worth reporting. Here's a perfect example: João Onofre's Box sized DIE featuring Unfathomable Ruination (2014). The heavy metal band enters this DIE box, which is hermetically sealed and sound-proofed. The band then play until their oxygen runs out. Hopefully they are then rescued! I'm surprised Health & Safety allows this dangerous nonsense, but DIE has already been shown in venues around Europe, including Palais de Tokyo, Art Basel and Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art. Now it's in London as part of Sculpture in the City. You'll find it outside The Gherkin, together with other tripe masquerading as art (CLICK).
