Turner Record

In Sotheby’s London evening sale of Old Master & British Paintings on Wednesday, J.M.W. Turner's Rome, From Mount Aventine (1836) fetched a world record auction price for the artist of £30.3 million. This price, including buyer's premium, was also the highest ever paid for a pre-20th Century British artist. The previous record sale for a Turner was £29.7 million (CLICK). No doubt Mike Leigh's biopic Mr Turner helped boost the new record price. Will the telephone buyer face an export ban, if he tries to take it out of the UK?
