Just Art Group
An all-female art group that meets in Houston, Texas, for mutual support and artistic witterings, has just gone online with its new website: Just Art Group (click title link). It sounds depressingly Bible-beltish and girlie. Its pretentious mission statement - "Art is a creative journey seeking the truth with one's self." - got right up Coxsoft Art's nose. The last thing the majority of contemporary artists want is to face the truth: that they haven't any talent. Those with talent are more interested in making a living from it than in attaining enlightenment. And the dead ones don't give a damn. Having got that off my chest, I must say their website is fast, slick and professional; well worth a visit. Carol Welsh is a promising wildlife artist, and Helena Castro's Calla Flowers made me want see more of her work. Unfortunately, only one painting of hers was on show when I visited the gallery.
