Early Constables Sale

Bonhams in New Bond Street, London, is to auction three early sketches by John Constable on 18 September. A Rider and Companion Crossing a Bridge (shown) is expected to fetch £18,000, A Mountainous Landscape £9,000 and A River In A Hilly Valley £6,000. Sad evaluations when you compare them to the millions of pounds which investors spend on gimmicky rubbish mislabelled as "art".
