Millais and Morris

William Morris - Marigold Wallpaper and Chintz (shown with kind permission of the William Morris Gallery, London)If you lash out on a ticket to Millais at Tate Britain, you should also visit the William Morris Gallery in Walthamstow to find out more about the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and the Arts and Crafts Movement. Morris was the philosophical force behind both of these revolutions in Victorian art and design. He and his fellow artists created some of the finest stained-glass windows England has ever seen. (Type William Morris into my Blogger search box to see a few of them.) Entry to the William Morris Gallery is free. Visiting both galleries for the price of one will give you a fuller picture of both Millais and Morris.
